SilverScript Insurance Medicare part D prescription enrollment

Beginning January 1, 2006, Medicare began offering a new prescription drug program called Medicare Part D. This drug coverage allows most people who are eligible for Medicare to save considerably on their prescription drug costs. Each year there is a Medicare part D prescription enrollment deadline.

The next Open Enrollment Period is November 15th through December 31st. If you miss this Medicare part D prescription enrollment deadline, you may still be eligible.

At the end of the open Medicare part D prescription enrollment, there are exceptions that may allow you to enroll during the Special Enrollment Period. Please read the following options, and determine if any of these statements apply to you.

  • I am newly eligible for Medicare or will turn 65 within 90 days.
  • I have both Medicare and Medicaid or my state helps pay for my Medicare premiums.
  • I recently moved outside of my current Medicare health plan’s or Medicare prescription drug plan’s service area
  • I was recently approved for extra help paying for Medicare prescription drug coverage.
  • I just moved into a Long Term Care Facility (for example, a nursing home or long term care).
  • I recently left a PACE program.
  • I recently involuntarily lost my coverage that is at least as good as Medicare’s (also referred to as “creditable coverage”).
  • I am either losing coverage I had from an employer or leaving employer coverage.

If none of these statements apply to you or if you are not sure, please Contact Us at SilverScript Insurance to see if you are eligible for Medicare part D prescription enrollment. To assure that you are covered and don’t incur the late enrollment penalty, it’s best to learn which plan is best for you now.
